Position Overview
Adams & Martin Group has partnered with a client to find an experienced Systems Administrator I to support their legal department in Georgia.. The Systems Administrator I plays a vital role in maintaining and optimizing the agency's IT infrastructure, focusing on Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in cloud solutions, security management, automation, and hardware/software maintenance. Responsibilities
- Install and configure operating systems and peripherals.
- Manage software and application installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Create and manage user accounts and security groups following least-privilege principles.
- Perform kernel and errata patching to maintain system integrity.
- Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities using tools like Tenable.
- Implement system hardening practices and manage bastion hosts for secure access.
- Maintain, verify, and restore system backups.
- Conduct security drills and disaster recovery exercises to ensure system resilience.
- Configure and maintain multi-tiered cloud services on AWS.
- Monitor cloud accounts, metrics, and resources using tools such as CloudWatch.
- Manage the AWS lifecycle, focusing on provisioning, security, and automation.
- Develop and implement automation strategies using tools like CloudFormation.
- Optimize deployment times, resource usage, and costs through effective tagging and governance.
- Use automation to enhance system stability, reduce latency, and improve user experiences.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, security advancements, and AWS offerings.
- Regularly meet with AWS resources to enhance account configurations and adopt new features.
- Train and mentor relevant employees to ensure knowledge transfer and team growth.
- Analyze and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and resource access.
- Provide advanced technical support to users, fostering positive relationships between IT and other departments.
- Mentor junior team members and support their professional development.
- When assigned, monitor employee performance, delegate tasks, and provide administrative oversight, including performance reviews, coaching, and scheduling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with one year of experience OR
- Associate degree in a related field with three years of experience OR
- Five years of related experience.
- Strong proficiency in GNU/Linux.
- In-depth understanding of networking principles.
- Experience with AWS or similar IaaS solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (or higher certification).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Expertise in backup and recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of information security policies and best practices.
- Experience in improving operational efficiency through innovative solutions.
- Ability to document processes, maintain logs, and engineer advanced networks.
- Hands-on experience testing new hardware and software solutions.
- Proficiency in installing and maintaining network components and IT systems.

Additional Details
Pay Range: $33 - $36 per hour
